The Tony Award-winning musical “The Lion King” is ending its Albuquerque run on Sunday, but such is “The Circle of Life.” Here are some events that will stop you from lion around the first weekend of November.

1Showcasing dance

The University of New Mexico Department of Theatre and Dance is highlighting the talent and creativity of its dance program with “Lumbre,” a collection of original works by students. The curtain rises at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 3, and Saturday, Nov. 4, at the Elizabeth Waters Center for Dance at Carlisle Gym on the UNM Campus. Tickets are $10-$12, plus fees, at unmtickets.com.

2Everyone’s a Lobo

The UNM Lobos will face off on the gridiron against the UNLV Rebels at 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 4. Tickets start at $16, plus fees, at golobos.com. University Stadium is located at 1111 University Blvd. SE.

3Lands of the north

St. John’s United Methodist Church is hosting a Scandinavian Festival, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 4. The free event features Scandinavian food, folk art, dance performances and more. St. John’s is located 2626 Arizona St. NE.

4In the studio

The Embudo Valley Arts Association presents the 42nd annual Dixon Studio Tour from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 4, and Sunday, Nov. 5. Visit 36 artists in a tour that travels through Dixon. 5Notes of fall

The Albuquerque Concert Band is performing in a free fall concert, 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 5. The concert will be held at Eldorado High School’s George Nason Performing Arts Center, 11300 Montgomery Blvd. NE. Visit abqband.org for more information.

6Crafty creations

The Rio Rancho United Methodist Church is hosting its 13th annual craft fair 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 4. The event will feature over 50 vendors with handcrafted items for sale. Rio Rancho United Methodist Church is located at 1652 Abrazo Road NE, in Rio Rancho.

7‘Hakuna Matata’

The Lion King wraps up its run at Popejoy Hall this weekend with shows at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 3; 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 4; and 1 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 5. Tickets are $40-$135, plus fees, at popejoypresents.com. Popejoy Hall is located on the UNM campus.
