1It’s truck time

The dirt will fly at the Rio Rancho Events Center for two days of the Toughest Monster Truck Tour. Showtime is 5:30 p.m. for the pit party and 7:30 p.m. for the main event on Friday, Jan. 12; and 4 p.m. pit party and 6 p.m. main event on Saturday, Jan. 13. Tickets start at $15, plus fees, at ticketmaster.com. Pit party passes are $15 or free at Melloy Dodge. The Rio Rancho Events Center is located at 3001 Civic Center Circle NE in Rio Rancho.

2Honoring MLK, Jr.

Honor Martin Luther King, Jr. this weekend with the MLK Commemorative March. At 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 13, join marchers as they make their way from University Boulevard and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Avenue to Civic Plaza. A ceremony at Civic Plaza will immediately follow the march.

3A good book

The Xeric Garden Club of Albuquerque will host author Judith Philips 10-11:30 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 13. She will give a presentation on researching and writing “The Gardens of Los Poblanos.” The Albuquerque Garden Center is located at 10120 Lomas Blvd. NE. The event is free.

4Superstars of the ring

The WWE Supershow is bringing the ring to the Rio Rancho Events Center at 7 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 14. Tickets start at $25, plus fees, at ticketmaster.com. The Rio Rancho Events Center is located at 3001 Civic Center Drive in Rio Rancho.

5Bueller ... Bueller ...

The Historic Lobo Theater is brining “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off” to screen with brunch and a movie 10:30 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 14. Tickets are $10 general admission and $25 for a brunch and movie ticket, plus fees, holdmyticket.com. The Lobo Theater is located at 3013 Central Ave. NE.

6A chilly run

The Chilly Willy 5K/10K/Half Marathon takes off from the Mariposa Basin Park at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 13. Registration starts at $37.50 with prices increasing on race day. Visit fivestarntp.com for more info and registration. Mariposa Basin Park is located at 4900 Kachina St. NW.

7Canine conversations

Even dogs enjoy a good book. Bring the children in your life to the East Mountain Library from 1-2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 13, and give them the opportunity to read out loud to licensed therapy dogs. The library is located at 487 NM-333 in Tijeras.
