About faces
Artist James Black will illuminate Downtown Albuquerque’s Rosenwald Building with animated portraits of the city’s residents from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 27. People will also have a chance to have their likeness sketched during upcoming Artwalks in January and February. The art will be projected on the Fourth Street side of the Rosenwald Building, 320 Central Ave. SW.
Hitting the right notes
Max Gomez is coming to Los Alamos on Sunday, Dec. 29, for a holiday performance. Gomez will be joined by friends for a holiday show at 7 p.m. at the Fuller Lodge, 2132 Central Ave. Tickets for the Fuller Lodge show are $35, plus fees, at holdmyticket.com.
In nature
Get moving from 10 a.m. to noon, Friday, Dec. 27, with the Candelaria Nature Preserve Hike. The event is free but participants must register at play.cabq.gov and search "23302311-38." Hikers should meet at the west end of Arbor Road NW, west of Rio Grande Boulevard.
Chocolate dream
The Lomas Tramway Library is hosting a special showing of 1971’s “Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory” at 3 p.m. Friday, Dec. 27. The library is located at 908 Eastridge Drive NE.
The upside down
The Special Collections Library is ringing in the New Year with a noon screening of 1972’s “The Poseidon Adventure” on Tuesday, Dec. 31. The library is located at 423 Central Ave. NE.
Sing in the New Year
Join Opera Southwest, the New Mexico Symphonic Chorus and the Albuquerque Youth Symphony for “New Year’s with the Opera!” at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 31. Tickets start at $15 at operasouthwest.org. The National Hispanic Cultural Center is located at 1701 Fourth St. SW.

Meow Wolf’s “House of Eternal Return” is hosting Adulti-verse: Dry-ish January from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 2, 2025. Tickets for the 21+ over event are $45, plus fees, at meowwolf.com. Meow Wolf is located at 1352 Rufina Circle in Santa Fe.
