The New Mexico Department of Game and Fish, partnered with the Safari Club International Foundation, is hosting a beginner adult quail hunting camp Nov. 21-23 at Rockhound State Park in Deming.
The New Mexico Department of Game and Fish, partnered with the Safari Club International Foundation, is hosting a beginner adult quail hunting camp Nov. 21-23 at Rockhound State Park in Deming.
Learn how to identify quail, rules and regulations, hunter safety, clay target shooting, quail hunting techniques and how to field dress quail. The camp is open to adults age 18 and older with little to no hunting experience or those who have never hunted quail before.
Campers will need to provide their own hunting licenses, a tent or wheeled camper, a sleeping bag and sleeping pad, and are encouraged to bring their own 12- or 20-gauge shotgun.
Registration begins at 8 a.m. Monday, Nov. 3 at wildlife.dgf.nm.gov/event/quail-hunting-camp and will close when the camp is full. The department asks that those who have previously participated in the camp not register. A mandatory Zoom orientation for registrants will take place at 6 p.m. Nov. 17.
