Poet Sarah Kotchian to read from “Light of Wings” on March 10
AT BOOKWORKS IN ALBUQUERQUE
New Mexico poet Sarah Kotchian reads from her new book of poems “Light of Wings” at 6 p.m. Sunday, March 10, at Bookworks.
Kotchian is described as a writer and artist whose creativity is drawn from the solitude and beauty she finds in her walks in New Mexico’s foothills and mountains.
The volume is part of the University of New Mexico Press’ Mary Burritt Christiansen Poetry Series. Kotchian’s pilgrimage on the Camino de Santiago in Spain was the basis for her book “Camino.” She was also a contributor to the 2019 Bread Loaf Writer’s Conference and was a nominee for a Pushcart Prize.

AT TREASURE HOUSE IN OLD TOWN
Two authors will read from and sign copies of their books at separate events this week at Treasure House Books & Gifts.
Albuquerque author Mary Dezember reads on Sunday, March 10, from her novel “Wild Conviction.”
The year is 1858 and Twilight Wild Adams is having her 16th birthday. Life changes for Wild when she reads a special birthday letter from her beloved Grand Mama, who is a strong abolitionist and leader of a covert, mystic sisterhood.
The novel is described as tinted with magical realism and southern Gothic.
On Saturday, March 16, E. Joe Brown will read and sign the second historical novel in his Kelly Can series, “A Cowboy’s Fortune.”
Brown is president of New Mexico Westerners, vice president of Southwest Writers and a member of Western Writers of America.
Both events run from 1:30-3:30 p.m.

AT VIOLET CROWN IN SANTA FE
Oscar-winning cinematographer/photographer Roger Deakins will be in conversation with Bill Shapiro, former editor-in-chief of Life magazine, and Deakins’ wife James Deakins at 4:15 p.m. Thursday, March 14.
Then, at 5 p.m. Roger Deakins will autograph copies of his book “Byways” at Violet Crown Gallery Space and Theater, 1606 Alcadesa St. in Santa Fe.
Deakins’ book is in its seventh edition.
And at 6 p.m. the film “No Country for Old Men” will be screened at Violet Crown.
