Some ‘Assemblage’ required
“Assemblage,” featuring more than 20 Placitas artists, is opening Saturday, June 14, at the Placitas Community Library. The event features art from unique jewelry pieces to a five-foot tall sculptural goddess. The library is located at 453 Highway 165 in Placitas. The show is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday-Thursday and Saturday, and 1-4 p.m. Sunday through July 17.
Make it so
The New Mexico Museum of Natural History & Science is hosting “Sally’s Night,” an event honoring the first American woman in space at 6 p.m. Friday, June 20. Special guest sci-fi author Melinda Snodgrass, who will speak on “Science Fiction as a Mirror.” The event will also show a screening of the restored “Star Trek: The Next Generation” episode, “The Measure of a Man,” which was written by Snodgrass, followed by a Q&A. The event is free, but seats are limited and preregistration is encouraged at nmnaturalhistory.org. The museum is located at 1801 Mountain Road NW.
To market, to market
Head out to Dolores Huerta Gateway Park every Friday from 5-8 p.m. through Oct. 17 for La Familia Farmers Market South Valley free summer concert series. Friday, June 20, you can enjoy the sound of Bosque Fire and Gonzalo. The event also features dancing, vendors and more. The park is located at 100 Isleta Blvd. SW.
Giddy up!
Rawhide Days are coming to Tucumcari Friday, June 20, through Sunday, June 22. The event will feature arts and crafts, music, cornhole tournament, fun run and more. Visit tucumcarirawhidedays.org for the full schedule.
‘Dwelling’ on it
The immersive performance “Dwelling” is coming to q-Staff Theatre for a one night only event at 8 p.m. Saturday, June 21. “Dwelling” features a collaboration by local artists exploring the themes of home and belonging. Tickets are $20 at tiny.cc/dwellingabq. Q-Staff Theatre is located at 400 Broadway Blvd. SE.
Celebrating Juneteenth
Rio Rancho is holding it Juneteenth Freedom day celebration from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, June 21 at Haynes park. The free event will feature live music, performances, craft vendors and more.
Got soul
Memphis-based soul band Southern Avenue is coming to the Santa Fe Railyard Plaza for a Summer Scene concert. The free event is set for 6 p.m. Thursday, June 26. Visit lensic360.org to reserve your spot. The Railyard Plaza is located at 1612 Alcaldesa St. in Santa Fe.
