New Mexico, get ready.

GZA, a founding member of Wu-Tang Clan, is set to perform a free show on Saturday, Sept. 15, in Albuquerque. He will be joined on stage by The Phunky Nomads and Lee Fields.

The performance is part of Burque Live, which kicked off in June, and a celebration of the 50th anniversary of hip hop.

Burque Live is in its second year and showcases local talent, activates Downtown, and provides entertainment for folks of all ages and musical interests.

It is a collaboration between the city of Albuquerque and Mariposa Music.

“The Burque Live series puts the spotlight on our talented musicians and brings people out to support local businesses and venues,” said Mayor Tim Keller. “We’re grateful to be bringing the series back so we can create opportunities for creatives while providing fun entertainment for Burqueños.”

The event will take place at the outdoor stage, located at 107 Sixth St. NW.

"Mariposa Music is excited to be working with the city of Albuquerque and the Metropolitan Redevelopment Agency to provide performance opportunities for local musicians, and highlight many of the local businesses in and around the Downtown Albuquerque area,” said Alex Paramo, Mariposa Music general manager. “Both Albuquerque residents and visitors will have the opportunity to experience some of the great musical talent we have residing in our beloved Burque."

Officials remind concertgoers that event registration does not guarantee entry as it will be first come basis until the Fire Marshal capacity has been reached.

At that point entry will be allowed on a 1:1 basis with departures from the event. In order to secure a spot, plan to arrive early.
