Cindy Montoya, left, and Minel Isaminger make pine cone bird feeders during a pollinator festival in the Alvarado Park area of Albuquerque on Saturday. The festival was put on by the Alvarado Park Neighborhood Association. The group has been working to restore their alleys, cleaning out weeds, painting murals and adding mulch. There had been issues with crime and prostitution in this alley. Then a colony of bees moved into a wall. They put up a sign warning people of the bees, and the crime stopped, so they decided to have a pollinator festival. Bernalillo County employees and several University of New Mexico students helped with the festival.
