Albuquerque Police identify three recent homicide victims

A man was shot and killed late Tuesday night in a neighborhood in Southwest Albuquerque.

Officer Chase Jewell, an Albuquerque Police Department spokesman, said officers responded just before midnight to reports of a body in the street near 98th and Rio Clara SW.

Later Wednesday, APD spokesman Gilbert Gallegos identified the man as 39-year-old Joel Valdez.

Gallegos also identified two recent homicide victims as Dominic Ramirez, 42, and Alana Gamboa, 19.

On June 30, officers responded to gunfire in the 2900 block of Muriel NE, near Juan Tabo and Candelaria, and found Ramirez shot to death.

Relatives and friends took to social media to mourn Ramirez.

One woman wrote, "I wish I could get one more call from you. Thank you for loving me and always having my back... please watch over us."

Less than 24 hours before Valdez was killed, officers responded to a possible car crash near Kathryn and Columbia SE and found Gamboa shot to death.

A GoFundMe set up for Gamboa's funeral costs said the 19-year-old "was a loving daughter, sister and granddaughter."

"She kept to herself because she was busy working, going to school and helping her mother look after her siblings," according to the GoFundMe post.

No arrests have been reported in any of the cases.
