American Legion Post 49 social media accounts hacked
The American Legion Post 49 is still open despite someone hacking into their social media accounts and telling people it was closed, Post Cmdr. Richard Anaya said.
The post's websites and Facebook page were corrupted. Misinformation was posted that is "detrimental to our Post and the American Legion," Anaya said.
He said someone replaced the Post symbol with an inverted American flag and made disparaging remarks about the post.
It is unclear exactly what remarks were made.
The hacker had put on the post's social media accounts that the post was closing down, which "is far from the truth."
Post 49 is "alive and active," Anaya told the Journal.
Anaya said he has reached out to an Albuquerque Police Department detective who has yet to get back to him.
If anyone has any questions about the situation, they can call 505-296-4224 or visit the Post at 11005 Central Ave NE, he said.
American Legion Post 49 is the largest American Legion Post in New Mexico with over 950 members and serving veterans in Albuquerque and across New Mexico plus supporting Albuquerque youth programs.
