Bosque School, a private college preparatory school serving grades 6-12 in Albuquerque, received a $3.5 million gift, which is the largest in the school’s history.

The gift comes from the Los Ranchos nonprofit Corio Foundation, which invests in private equity, real estate and private debt.

The gift “establishes the Corio Scholarship Program, which will provide $500,000 per year in financial aid to students with the greatest demonstrated need,” according to a news release from the school Wednesday.

“With New Mexico consistently ranking 50th in the nation for K-12 reading and math, as well as for child welfare, the opportunity provided by access to proven models of educational excellence is critical,” Jessie Barrie, head of Bosque School, wrote in a letter sent to the school community. “This game-changing gift commitment further amplifies Bosque School’s commitment to be a private school with a public purpose.”
