Albuquerque Fire Rescue responded Monday to a fire at a multi-story apartment complex in Northeast Albuquerque.

Crews were dispatched to the apartment complex at 7303 Montgomery NE following reports of a fire on the second floor, and discovered a fire in one of the units, the department said in a news release.

"During firefighting efforts, several occupants were evacuated using ground ladders due to smoke and fire conditions in the common center hallway on the second floor," AFR said in the release.

Crews had the fire under control within 15 minutes and extinguished within 30 minutes. No injuries were reported.

Twelve apartments were affected and two are considered uninhabitable.

"Several occupants are being assisted by the Red Cross," the release said.
