Shooting on Holloman Air Force Base leaves one dead, another injured
Base officials release few details in shooting outside Shoppette
A domestic dispute erupted in gunfire outside a shop on Holloman Air Force Base on Tuesday — leaving an airman injured and a former military member dead.
In a news release, base officials said the shooting "was an isolated incident and there is no ongoing threat to our community."
"Based on the current investigation, this incident was domestic related, but the individuals were not married," officials said.
The injured person, an active duty service member, was in the hospital in stable condition. The other person, a civilian and veteran previously stationed at Holloman, died at the scene.
The news release did not identify the person killed, say when the shooting occurred, what led to the incident or give any other details. A base spokesperson declined to answer additional questions.
"We ask that individuals avoid speculating on social media regarding the incident out of respect for the families involved," according to the release. "This incident is still under investigation and additional details will be provided as they become available."
