A hiker with an injured leg was brought down from the Pino Trail by Albuquerque Fire Rescue and Albuquerque Police Department personnel on Monday evening.

The hiker was with a hiking partner and unable to hike out from about one mile up the trail, according to an AFR news release. They called for help just after 6 p.m., according to an AFR Facebook post.

Crews hiked in and brought the injured person out in a wheeled stokes basket.

The patient chose to seek additional treatment on their own and wasn't transported to hospital by ambulance, according to AFR.

AFR said the hikers had appropriate gear and were prepared for the hike.

The Pino Trail is accessed from the Elena Gallegos Open Space trailhead.
