A man was reportedly dead before his vehicle ran through a wall outside a home in Northwest Albuquerque, Albuquerque Police Department spokesperson Gilbert Gallegos said in a Sunday news release.

On Sunday morning, officers responded to a call of a vehicle crashing into a residence in the 900 block of 23rd Street, near Rio Grande. A caller told police the driver appeared to be dead, Gallegos said.

Detectives came to the scene at 5:40 a.m. after “evidence indicated the driver was killed before the crash,” he said. Gallegos said the man had been shot.

The case remains under investigation, he said.
