Police arrested a man Saturday who allegedly shot and killed another man during a highspeed car chase on Louisiana in 2023.

In October of 2024, Mark Halladay, 43, was charged with an open count of murder in a sealed criminal complaint filed in Metropolitan Court and a felony warrant was issued for his arrest. Halladay is accused of killing Joshua Baca, 31, during what police believe to be a road rage attack, according to an Albuquerque Police Department news release.

Halladay has not yet been assigned legal counsel.

More than two years ago, on May 13, 2023 surveillance footage shows a motorcyclist, suspected to be Halladay, racing down Louisiana in hot pursuit of a vehicle, according to the release. Witnesses told police Halladay then fired two shots at Baca’s vehicle, which kept going for a block before stopping at the intersection of Louisiana and Montgomery NE. Still at the wheel, Baca was pronounced dead on the scene, according to the release.

Halladay took off toward a nearby apartment complex, the release details, where detectives were later able to identify him by the description of his motorcycle.

Halladay was booked into Metropolitan Detention Center at around 5:45 p.m. on Saturday and is currently being held without bond .
