NM's largest hot air balloon tour company is looking for chase crew members. Here's how much it pays
Interested in getting into the hot air balloon game without having to leave the ground?
Rainbow Ryders Inc. is hiring hot air balloon chase crew members ahead of the 2023 Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta.
Chase crews set up balloons for flight, follow them by vehicle as they traverse the sky, help the balloon land and pack it into the trailer when the flight is complete.
The position has potential for long-term employment and opportunities to transition into a full-time or part-time role within the company, a news release stated.
Pay is $45 per shift plus tips, with the ability to earn more depending on experience and responsibilities, the company's website state.
The website added shifts start early in the morning and last about three or four hours on average. In winter, afternoon shifts are also available.
Job responsibilities include:
Handling hot air balloon equipment with care and precision.
Assisting the pilot with flight preparation to ensure smooth operations.
Providing exceptional customer service to guests, ensuring an unforgettable experience.
Following the balloon during flight, maintaining communication and safety protocols.
Packing up equipment after each flight and returning it to the shop.
Qualified applicants must:
Be able to lift 75 pounds or more
Be in good physical condition
Have reliable transportation to work
Have good personal hygiene
Be able to work well with a team
