Many parts of New Mexico received plenty of precipitation Sunday.

Albuquerque got between .23 inches and 1.07 inches of rain, while Rio Rancho received .88 inches, as of 4:56 p.m., according to the National Weather Service of Albuquerque.

The rain came so quickly that 4 feet of water flowed through Embudo Arroyo, according to a city of Albuquerque alert.

“Arroyos, streams and normally dry rivers can become raging killer currents in a matter of minutes,” the alert states. “Water in arroyos can travel many miles and take hours to reach your location from upstream rain areas.”

The storm caused the Albuquerque Isotopes game against the Salt Lake Bees to be postponed.

Across the state, Los Alamos got .43 inches of precipitation while Roswell received .35 inches.

However, Roswell’s total could increase as more rain was expected overnight. A flood watch is in effect until 6 a.m. Monday, according to the National Weather Service.
