Pedestrian hit and killed on the West Side
A pedestrian was hit and killed late Saturday on the West Side.
The Albuquerque Police Department said the crash occurred around 10:20 p.m. on northbound Unser NW.
According to police, the light was green as a truck and another vehicle alongside approached Bluewater.
“The driver of the pickup noticed that the vehicle next to him began to brake. He then saw a pedestrian, an adult man, run out into the street at the crosswalk. Due to being in the flow of traffic, the driver of the pickup drove forward and struck the pedestrian,” police said.
The pedestrian, who was not identified by police, died at the scene.
Police said the driver did not show signs of intoxication, and speed does not appear to be a factor in the crash.
While the intersection is lit, the surrounding area is not, police said. “The driver did not see the individual until they were in front of his vehicle,” APD said.
