Police are looking for the driver who allegedly struck and killed a pedestrian before driving off early Monday morning in northwest Albuquerque.

Officers responded around midnight to 12th Street and La Poblana after receiving 911 calls about a hit-and-run, according to Gilbert Gallegos, an Albuquerque police spokesperson.

When they arrived, a man's body was lying on the side of the road, and he was pronounced dead on the scene.

A preliminary investigation from APD indicates a blue Ford truck was traveling northbound on 12th Street when the vehicle struck the man before leaving the scene, Gallegos wrote in a news release.

Gallegos said the vehicle will have damage to the front and passenger side of the vehicle, including a missing portion of the front bumper and a missing front headlamp on the passenger side.
