Pedestrian killed during hit-and-run in Northwest Albuquerque

A man was fatally struck by an SUV in Northwest Albuquerque on Saturday night.
Just after 9 p.m., the Albuquerque Police Department responded to a call of a a hit-and-run near the intersection of Coors and Quail NW.
When officers arrived, they learned that the driver of a white Nissan Kicks was heading north on Coors when a man ran into traffic, APD spokesperson Franchesca Perdue said. The driver tried to avoid the man before hitting him and driving off, she said.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene, Perdue said.
"This is an ongoing investigation and further information will be released when available," she said.
