Person fatally struck by driver on I-40 westbound at Carlisle

All lanes of westbound Interstate 40 at Carlisle were closed after a driver struck and killed a person Wednesday afternoon, New Mexico State Police said.
State Police said on X it closed the roadway due to "police activity" on I-40, according to officer Wilson Silver, a State Police spokesperson.
On Wednesday evening, a body surrounded by law enforcement vehicles could be seen in one of the traffic lanes.
Silver would not provide any further details . "Once details are confirmed," he said, "we will provide an update."
