A home invasion suspect is reportedly expected to have started a fire inside an apartment at the Salida del Sol apartment complex in in northeast Albuquerque Tuesday morning, according to an Albuquerque Fire Department official.

Three persons were inside the apartment at the time. All three escaped the fire, with one jumping off of the second-story balcony. One person was taken to the hospital to treat minor injuries, Albuquerque Fire Department said.

An Albuquerque Fire official said the call initially came to police dispatchers about the home invasion and partnered with fire dispatch once the suspect started the fire. Authorities have not released details regarding the suspect.

Due to the nature of the home invasion call, the Albuquerque Fire Department said they had to wait for law enforcement to arrive at the scene before they could put out the flame.

The fire was contained to a single unit and fire crews were able to safely put it out.
