Second arrest made in New Year’s Day homicide
APD says suspect helped arrange a ride for 18-year-old accused of fatally shooting man

Police have arrested a second person in the killing of a 25-year-old man on New Year's Day.
Dominic Martinez, 22, is charged with first-degree murder, tampering with evidence and conspiracy to commit a felony in the death of Alexander Wilson. He was arrested and charged Friday.
Gilbert Gallegos, spokesperson for the Albuquerque Police Department, said in a news release that police learned that Martinez had offered a ride to 18-year-old Peyton Reagan, who allegedly killed Wilson.
Reagan initially asked for a ride Downtown after he messaged his girlfriend and said he was going to kill her and two of her friends, according to a criminal complaint filed in Metropolitan Court.
"When Reagan told Martinez about his plan, Martinez sent a text message saying he would get his cousin to drive them Downtown, kill the three people, and trade the gun for two handguns afterward," Gallegos said in the release.
In the messages, Reagan told Martinez he did not have to stick around because he knew he was going to get arrested. Martinez replied, "We slide ski up get tf out of there and trade the ARP for two Glocks," the complaint states.
Officers heard gunshots around 2:53 a.m. New Year's Day and saw a man — later identified as Reagan — running west on Gold "carrying what appeared to be a rifle," according to the complaint. Police detained Reagan, searched the area where he had run from and found a blue Ford vehicle and Wilson lying on the ground with multiple gunshot wounds.
Wilson died from his injuries, while Reagan was taken to the hospital after telling officers he was struggling to breathe. Reagan’s girlfriend and another girl escaped unharmed, Gallegos said.
Officers spoke with Martinez's cousin, who gave the two a ride, and she told police that after she dropped them off, she heard gunshots and drove away, the complaint states.
When she heard Martinez yell for her not to leave him behind, she stopped the vehicle and picked him up before the two drove away.
