SFPD: Dog OK, woman injured after wrong way drunk driving crash
An alleged drunken driver traveling the wrong way caused a head-on collision in southwest Santa Fe just before 10 p.m. Friday, injuring the woman she crashed into, who had a dog in the car with her.
The dog was OK, according to the Santa Fe Police Department, and the woman, an unidentified 53-year-old, suffered two broken legs.
Bloomfield resident Starlyn Staley, 32, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, according to SFPD. She lost her balance and fell to the ground when asked to perform a field sobriety test, according to a SFPD news release.
“(She) remains under medical observation at a local hospital and was unable to be booked as of today,” SFPD said in a news release Monday. “She was issued citations and informed the charges related to this incident will be submitted to Santa Fe Magistrate Court for further disposition.”
The dog was transported to the Santa Fe Animal Shelter for safekeeping, according to police.
