A Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office deputy was arrested early Monday morning for allegedly driving under the influence, according to a criminal complaint filed by a New Mexico State Police officer.

Adrienne Marie Seay, 43, faces a charge of aggravated driving while under the influence, and was released on her own recognizance, according to court records.

The conditions of her release include that she does not possess or consume alcohol or enter an establishment that sells liquor. Seay has been with BCSO since 2018.

In a written statement, Sheriff John Allen said Seay had been placed on administrative leave pending an internal investigation, and apologized to the community.

“This incident deeply concerns me, as it does not align with the high standards and values of the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office,” he said. “Our fundamental duty is to uphold the law and ensure public safety, and this deputy’s actions are a betrayal of that trust.”

Seay pulled up to a DUI checkpoint at Paseo Del Norte and Kimmick NW in a blue Chevy pickup truck around 12:40 a.m., state police said, smelling heavily of alcohol. When questioned further by police, they said Seay was slurring her words and had bloodshot, watery eyes.

She also admitted to drinking “some glasses of wine before driving.”

After Seay performed poorly on field sobriety tests, state police determined she was impaired and not fit to drive and drove her to jail.
