Shooting in Sadie's parking lot leaves one man with life-threatening injuries

A quarrel outside a Northeast Albuquerque restaurant spilled into the parking lot of another, where a man was shot and seriously injured Wednesday afternoon.

The man who was shot was taken to the hospital with "life-threatening injuries," Albuquerque Police Department spokesman Gilbert Gallegos said in a news release.

"The shooter... was detained and he is currently in custody," he said.

APD responded to the shooting near Academy and San Mateo NE around 3:30 p.m.

"The dispute started at the Texas Roadhouse ... as one man chased another man toward the nearby Sadie's restaurant," where the shooting happened, Gallegos said.

Bridgette Soto, a manager at the Sadie's at 5400 Academy NE, said none of her staff was involved or harmed during the shooting.

"It originated at a different location," she said. "It just unfortunately ended on the corner of ours."

Soto said officers did not ask staff to close Sadie's and the store remained open.
