A 17-year-old was shot and killed at an apartment in Northeast Albuquerque late Tuesday, according to police.

Albuquerque Police Department officers responded to an alert from the ShotSpotter gunshot detection system around 9:45 p.m. at an apartment complex in the 500 block of Tramway, near Copper, according to a news release from agency spokesperson Gilbert Gallegos on Wednesday.

"Officers located an adult male who died on scene as a result of a gunshot wound," Gallegos said.

Police did not immediately identify the person killed, and the investigation is ongoing.
