Energy: After getting rolled back from the Senate Conservation Committee on Tuesday, a measure to increase the cap on oil and gas royalty rates is first up for the committee at 8:30 a.m. Also happening in the morning, legislation that would require the Public Education Department to give schools the option of replacing buses with electric or zero-emission alternative fuel school buses will be heard in the House Transportation, Public Works and Capital Improvement Committee.

Housing: A bill to add housing studies as a requirement for Local Economic Development Act funds goes to its first committee, House Rural Development, Land Grants and Cultural Affairs, at 9 a.m.

Public safety: Republican Reps. Nicole Chavez and Andrea Reeb have three crime bills lower down on the House Consumer and Public Affairs Committee schedule for the afternoon: granting additional law enforcement exceptions to the law prohibiting firearms at polling places, changing how meritorious deductions work for prisoners and increasing penalties for aggravated battery on peace officers.
