Two people fatally shot in Farmington; incident 'does not appear to be random act,' police say

Three people were shot — two fatally — after a shooting in Farmington Sunday morning.

At around 1:54 a.m., the Farmington Police Department responded to a call of a shooting near the intersection of East Murray Drive (U.S. 64) and Camina Entrada.

When officers arrived, they found three people with gunshot wounds, Farmington police spokesperson Shanice Gonzales said in a news release Sunday. All three were taken to San Juan Regional Medical Center, where two people died, she said.

It is unclear what the third person's condition is and if there are any suspects.

"Preliminary investigation indicates the individuals involved were known to one another, and this incident does not appear to be a random act of violence," Gonzales said.

Detectives are investigating the case and more information will be released as it becomes available, she said.

Gonzales said anyone with information is urged to contact the Detective Division Tipline at 505-599-1068.
