Valves to be replaced at Central and Eubank; lanes to be reduced
The Albuquerque Bernalillo County Water Authority will replace two valves at Central and Eubank NE. Work will result in some lane closures.
Motorists can expect an inconvenient few days at Central and Eubank NE this week.
Starting Tuesday, Albuquerque Bernalillo County Water Utility Authority crews will be replacing two valves at the intersection.
Valves “allow us to control the flow of water in a pipe” during repairs, emergencies and maintenance, Water Authority spokesperson Rachel Stone said.
Because the valves were installed during the 1960s, she said, “it was time for them to be replaced.”
During the project, northbound Eubank will be reduced to one lane from south of the intersection to north of the intersection while westbound Central will go down to one lane by Eubank. People will still be able to access businesses, CWA Strategic Communications President Patti Watson said in a news release.
Work is expected to be completed on Friday.
“Motorists in the area should expect delays and travel through the work zone slowly and with caution,” Watson said.
