Police have made an arrest in a hit-and-run crash that left a pedestrian dead in the Near North Valley.

Rosario Lage, 54, is charged with knowingly leaving the scene of an accident that caused death or personal injury. She was booked into the Metropolitan Detention Center on Wednesday and does not currently have an attorney.

Officers were sent to 12th and La Poblana NW around 12:30 a.m. Monday after a caller reported hearing a vehicle crash and seeing a man lying on the side of the street, according to a criminal complaint filed in Metropolitan Court.

The man, Jesus Ramos, was pronounced dead on the scene.

Police obtained security camera footage that showed Ramos walking in and out of traffic before the crash. It also showed a blue Ford truck with the front passenger headlight broken — later identified as Lage's truck — "enter the camera frame as if it was coming off of the sidewalk and overcorrecting into the center of northbound lanes of 12th," the complaint states.

Police said vehicle parts could be seen scattered on the road, and there were blue paint chips near Ramos' body. Footage taken after the crash showed the truck traveling south on Rio Grande with damage to its passenger side, the complaint states.

An officer in the area saw Lage's damaged truck drive by and looked up its license plate after learning the vehicle may have been involved in the nearby incident, the complaint stated.

The vehicle was later found in a dirt lot east of the 400 block of 94th Street SW with front-end damage, including a missing right headlight and right front fender damage, the complaint stated.
