A woman was taken to a local hospital after being shot outside a Maverik in Southeast Albuquerque on Sunday.

It is unclear what the woman's condition is and "we do not have suspect information," BCSO spokesperson Deanna Aragon said in an email.

On Sunday afternoon, the Bernalillo County Sheriff's Office responded to a call of a woman shot in the chest in the 700 block of Wagner SE, near Rio Bravo and Interstate 25, she said.

When they arrived, they found a 29-year-old woman who was taken to the University of New Mexico Hospital, Aragon said. There was a child in the car who was not injured, she said.

The Albuquerque Police Department is investigating, Aragon said.
