I am both faculty and staff with UNM, and I have 20 years of experience along with multiple degrees, yet I will never make even one-twelfth of what the NEW FOOTBALL COACH makes on day one. BV

University of New Mexico’s NEW FOOTBALL COACH will earn $1.15 million in his first year, with added incentives, while two-thirds of students report food insecurity. This glaring contrast shows our priorities are out of balance. UNM’s main purpose is supporting education, not just improving football. Let’s focus on supporting students. DM

The mayor wants to REDEVELOP DOWNTOWN to include restaurants with outdoor patios. Nothing like being outside enjoying a burger on the patio as bullets fly by. Old Town perhaps? There’s crime there, too. Oh well, I think we’ll just stay home. TC

Mayor Tim Keller’s announcement that, if reelected to a third term, he would reduce crime in the city by hiring a new police chief, just sounds like bribery. Considering the horrific job he has done for the city thus far, this is gaslighting at its best. Perhaps he could REPLACE CHIEF MEDINA now? GH

The mayor wants to give the POLICE CHIEF the boot. Apparently, friendship only goes so far when he’s going to be running for reelection. HJ

ABQ City Council putting their nose where it doesn’t belong. REQUIRING AC in a rental when so many non-rentals have no AC at all. Easy solution: Raise the rent and no more paid utilities. Good job ABQ. RS

Maybe the city will make APS provide AIR CONDITIONING for the children now. RK

The city claims it must address a lack of affordable housing. But now new requirements make it so every landlord has to PROVIDE AIR CONDITIONING. Just another irrational, uncreative piece of nonsense from city leaders. RJB

MAYOR TIM KELLER finally closed Coronado Park to campers and neighbors so it will eventually become an Albuquerque Fire Rescue Training Academy, key word: eventually. Until Gateway Center is available, turn Coronado into a safe outdoor space with rented portable toilets — cheaper than the city’s “poop patrol” contract. Safer and cleaner for everyone. CM

Why did CENTRAL AVENUE not have any Christmas decorations up this year? The week of Christmas and no decorations. Where was the holiday spirit? There is no sense of community anywhere in Albuquerque. JK
