Regarding “NM Dems continue to shoot their own state in the foot” (Mar. 11): Agree with Journal Columnist Jeff Tucker, U.S. REP. MELANIE STANSBURY’S sign “This is not normal” refers to the New Mexico Democrat Party. New Mexico is and has been controlled by Dems most of the last 80+ years. NL

Thank you REP. MELANIE STANSBURY. You are right. The President of the United States, who is a convicted felon, walking up to the podium to deliver a speech full of blatant lies is not normal, and should not be considered as normal. Neither is a member of our supposedly honorable Congress taking your sign from your hands. BCM

We applaud REP. MELANIE STANSBURY’S actions at the joint session. It’s “not normal” to eliminate or cripple the Federal Aviation Administration, Centers for Disease Control, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and vital research at National Institutes of Health. Journal editorials/letters are one sided; no opposing view for Tucker’s editorial and SpeakUp letters were biased, seven con and four pro. LMP

Our tax dollars pay for the White House and President Trump uses it as a CAR SALES LOT to help his wealthy friend. What about the rest of us? To financially help me out, maybe I can have my next yard sale there. DD

In the first 48 days of President TRUMP’S ADMINISTRATION he has played golf 13 of those days at a cost of $18 million to taxpayers. I hope Mr. Elon Musk sees an opportunity to get this halted to save us money. ECH

Saturday on Truth Social, President Donald Trump shared a Daily Caller article titled “Shut Up About Egg Prices.” In it, Charlie Kirk claimed that Trump bears zero responsibility for the high PRICE OF EGGS. Trump admits that, “Inflation is back, but I had nothing to do with it.” Sure. EJG

Introducing bills to create commissions to oversee the Public Education Department and the Children Youth Families Department is undertaken to make the public think the LEGISLATURE is acting to improve failing departments. The state needs to hire experienced and competent Cabinet secretaries who will always outperform other types of leadership. They don’t build statues to committees. WT

Regarding “Legislature 2025 Photo” (Mar. 9 Journal): Is it really necessary for SECOND AMENDMENT rights activists to show show their support with an assault weapon? Is that amount of firepower really necessary for sport hunting in New Mexico? RA

Soon only big restaurant chains like McDonald’s will be able to afford operating in New Mexico because of PAID FAMILY MEDICAL LEAVE and increased liquor taxes. This Democrat-run Legislature, with obvious overall lack of experience in business, is why entrepreneurs are leaving the state in droves for more friendly states. AL

Regarding “A malpractice bill has yet to be heard in Senate committee” (Mar. 9 Journal): Thank you for your Sunday Journal article highlighting all the Democrat committee members posed to hear the medical MALPRACTICE BILL having received their largest campaign contributions from the New Mexico Trial Lawyers Association. New Mexico corruption at its finest. DS

New Mexico seems to have a management problem at both ends of the spectrum — the care of FOSTERED CHILDREN and the care of the elderly. State run facilities are difficult to manage since there is no profit motive nor legal accountability. There has to be a better solution? GH

Something is definitely out of balance. It took 18 months to schedule me for a referral appointment for an important gastroenterological procedure. But getting an appointment with a personal injury lawyer takes seconds. How about we trade off some lawyers for more DOCTORS? AP
