A Six Pac of conference realignment news: Here's what people are saying

Boise State, Colorado State, Fresno State and San Diego State are leaving the Mountain West to join the Oregon State and Washington State in the Pac-12 in 2026.

Sports X, which includes college sports reporters around the country, has been atwitter since the conference realignment news broke on Wednesday.

Ross Dellenger, Yahoo's senior college football reporter has been at the forefront of reporting on the Pac-12's realignment. Here's his summation of the rebuilt league.

Realignment prognostications

The Pac-12 must add two more schools to be recognized as a conference by NCAA rule. Some publications are writing about which schools make the most sense to join the new conference.

The Bay Area News Group, On3 Media and College Football News all mention New Mexico as a possibility. Meanwhile, The Sporting News is dismissive of all other Mountain West teams aside from UNLV and Air Force

The Mountain West, which has eight football-playing members left, also might be in the market to add schools in the coming years.

Sam Herder with HERO Sports, which covers FCS and FBS Group of Five programs, writes in part about which FCS schools could make the move to FBS as part of the new-look Mountain West.
