Former New Mexico State golfer Aidan Thomas fired a one-under 71 Wednesday to win the New Mexico Open, finishing 13-under on the week to secure the title by one stroke.

The Albuquerque native and St. Pius X High School graduate finished under-par in all three rounds (68-64-71) at Turtleback Mountain Golf and Resort in Elephant Butte.

Jhared Hack (12-under) finished second while A.J. Crouch and Brian Stark tied for third place at 11-under. Hack made a hole-in-one on No. 17 to fuel a late charge up the leaderboard.

NMSU senior Javier Delgadillo earned low amateur honors after finishing eight-under on the week.

Former PGA Tour professional Matt Every made the cut and finished 11-over, while Albuquerque native and four-time Tour winner Notah Begay III did not.
