Bosque Farms’ Katherine Lindenmuth, fighting thousands of miles from home and having moved up in weight, banged out a victory by split decision over Angelina Lukas in capturing the previously vacant WBA Gold flyweight title Friday night in Giza, Egypt.

Lindenmuth improved her record to 8-5 with three knockouts. Lukas, of Kazakhstan, is 15-2 with eight KOs.

One judge scored the 10-round bout 98-92 for Lukas. Two judges saw it 96-94 for Lindenmuth.

Before Friday’s bout, Lindenmuth had campaigned primarily at 105 and 108 pounds and had never weighed in at more than 110 1/2 (against an opponent who weighed in at 116 1/2) for any of her previous 12 pro bouts.

Friday, fighting in the 112-pound flyweight division for the first time, she brought home the title belt she’d come to Egypt to pursue.
