Cleveland's Sparks verbals to Utah
One of the state’s top prep football recruits is off the market.
Just weeks after taking his official visit to Salt Lake City, Cleveland High offensive tackle Moses Sparks has made a verbal commitment to the University of Utah.
“It felt like home and I felt like I never left Cleveland High School,” said the 6-foot-4, 270-pound Sparks, who plays right tackle for the defending Class 6A state champion Storm.
“I love the culture up there,” said Sparks, 17.
Sparks chose the Utes over Texas Tech and Boise State. Oregon State and New Mexico were also among the schools Sparks was considering.
Sparks said he expects to be moving inside, to guard, once he arrives on the Utah campus next year.
“I’ll be comfortable with that,” he said. “I know what I’m getting into.”
The last high profile metro-area player to choose Utah was La Cueva’s Connor O’Toole.
Sparks plans to sign with Utah during the early signing period in December.
