The San Diego State Aztecs and UNM Lobos have played more than a few memorable games as Mountain West men’s basketball foes through the years.

For their last scheduled regular season game as conference rivals, CBS wanted to make sure the entire country could see it.

The league — in its last season in its current makeup before five members, including SDSU, bolt to form a new version of the Pac-12 conference — unveiled the broadcast schedule for this season’s league slate.

Included in it is the Feb. 28 SDSU at UNM game in the Pit, which has, for a third consecutive year, been picked up by CBS Sports — the network’s primary, free over air channel.

This past season’s game in the Pit, another usual sell out between the two programs, included the broadcast team of Spero Dedes and college basketball icon Bill Raftery.

The game will be a noon local tipoff in Albuquerque and was one of 14 league games for the Lobos that was picked up for a linear, televised broadcast by one of the league’s media rights partners: one on CBS, nine on CBS Sports Network and four on FS1. The remaining six Mountain West regular season games for the Lobos will be streamed on the Mountain West Network.

All of UNM’s nonconference home games and any Mountain West game not picked up already by a league media partner could still be picked up for local broadcasts in addition to being streamed on TheMW.com.

Wednesday’s news also brought with it four date changes for Lobo league games that were previously announced in a tentative conference schedule release last month. The new dates include home games vs. Fresno State (Jan. 21), Utah State (Feb. 4) and Colorado State (March 4) — each sliding from a Tuesday to a Wednesday. The Feb. 11 game at Grand Canyon University in Phoenix also slid from a Tuesday to a Wednesday.

Wednesday’s broadcast schedule release did not cover any of UNM’s nonconference games. UNM has announced that the Nov. 20 and 21 games in the Hall of Fame Classic in Kansas City, Missouri, will be streamed on Peacock.
