Geoff Grammer's AP Top 25 men's basketball ballot for Nov. 20
San Diego State's Jaedon LeDee shoots against Cal State Fullerton in the season opener for both teams on Nov. 6 at Viejas Arena.
Two weeks in and now we're really starting to get into the meat of the good stretch of the nonconference portion of the season.
We're still early enough in the season where nobody can tell you with 100% certainty how good or how bad a team is, no matter how much of an expert they think they are. But we're also starting to get enough of a picture of some teams that maybe we weren't too sure about in the preseason polls to now know if those October guesses were warranted.
Specific to my poll this week, I'm correcting an overreaction from last week's ballot.
I had San Diego State in the mid teens on my preseason ballot. They lost at BYU and I (and a lot of other voters) dropped them from our ballots. Not completely unreasonable for voters who don't know much about a team and all they see is a Week 1 loss. But I know enough about the Aztecs to know they'll be alright after that road loss to a BYU team that probably isn't all that bad itself.
So, after Jaedon LeDee has announced presence on the college basketball world over the first two weeks of the season and is no longer a secret, I've not just put the Aztecs back on my ballot this week, but put them back in that original mid-teens range that I had them in to start.
As always, please feel free to let me know what you think about my ballot on X @GeoffGrammer. And don't worry. If you feel I got my ballot wrong this week, just wait until next week and I'm sure I'll do it again.
