Late Lobo goal salvages draw vs. Texas Tech
New Mexico midfielders Ellie Robinson, right, and Natalie DeGagne celebrate after Robinson’s goal in the 87th minute tied the game 1-1 against Texas Tech on Thursday at the UNM Soccer Complex
Sometimes, you only get one shot.
For Ellie Robinson and the UNM Lobos on Thursday night, one shot on goal more than 86 minutes into their season-opening match against Texas Tech was all they could muster.
But the junior from Tucson made it count.
The midfielder's right foot put the Lobos on the board in the 87th minute, salvaging a 1-1 tie with the visitors from the Big 12 Conference in a match the Red Raiders seemed to control on the stat sheet, just not on the scoreboard at the UNM Soccer Complex.

Texas Tech had 15 shots (nine on goal) to just three (one on goal) for the Lobos. UNM sophomore goalkeeper Alli Davis had eight saves on the night.
Texas Tech's lone goal came courtesy Sam Courtwright in the 77th minute.
For Robinson, who was assisted on her equalizing goal by teammates Paris Dalton and Paige Satterlee, it was her first collegiate goal in her 35th match at UNM.
UNM (0-0-1) hosts Northern Arizona on Sunday at 1:30 p.m.
