Lobo cross country: Habtom Samuel to make season debut
UNM's Habtom Samuel leads the men's 3,000 meters during the Mountain West Indoor Track and Field Championships on Saturday at Albuquerque Convention Center. Samuel was named the men's Outstanding Track Athlete of the Meet for the second straight year.
New Mexico's Habtom Samuel is set to make his cross country season debut Friday at the Nuttycombe Invitational in Madison, Wisconsin.
The former NCAA Div. I champion in the men's 5,000-meter race is returning to the Thomas Zimmer Championship Course, where he finished national runner-up in the NCAA Cross Country Championships last fall. He will be racing for the first time this season with a UNM men's team ranked third in the country; the Lobos' women's team is ranked fifth.
The invitational's men's and women's championship ("A") races start at 12:30 p.m. and 11:50 a.m., respectively. Men's and women's "B" races begin at 11:10 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.
