Lobo men’s golfers jump two spots, finish third in MW tourney

In Creswell, Ore., the New Mexico Lobos jumped from fifth place to a third-place finish Sunday in the final round of the Mountain West Conference men’s golf championship tournament.

Mesa Falleur’s final round of 6-under 66 spurred the Lobos to a team score of 17-under 271 for the day. UNM finished the tourney at 30-under, just one stroke behind second-place UNLV. San Diego State took the team title with a score of 54-under.

For the tournament, Fallleur, a junior from Muskogee, Oklahoma, finished in a tie for fourth with a score of 11-under 277. Oliver Cage and Carson Herron were next, both finishing at 6-under 282 and tying for 16th.

The Lobos now await Wednesday’s NCAA selection show, to be aired at 11 a.m. on the Golf Channel. NCAA regionals are scheduled for May 12-14.
