Lightning and weather combined to postpone Day 2 of the Albuquerque Metro Track and Field Championships.
Actually, the day’s program never got started on a dark afternoon on the West Side, with some early lightning clearing the facility. After a late afternoon meeting of officials, it was determined that athletes and coaches will reconvene at Nusenda Community Stadium on Saturday morning to finish the meet.
There are still six full field events remaining, plus the completion of the boys pole vault – which near finished on Thursday before it was halted by wind – to begin at 8:15 Saturday morning.
The full running program will begin at 9:30 a.m. All of the individual finals, except the 3,200-meter run, will be contested Saturday.
