New Mexico Junior College sprinter wins Paralympics gold, sets world record
New Mexico Junior College sprinter Aymane El Haddaoui is participating in the 2024 Paralympics in Paris for his home country of Morocco. El Haddaoui is running in the 100 meters and 400 meters.
New Mexico Junior College sprinter Aymane El Haddaoui captured a gold medal in world record time Saturday at the 2024 Paris Paralympic Games.
El Haddaoui raced to victory in the T46/T47 400 meters, crossing the finish line in 46.65 seconds. A native of Morocco, El Haddaoui edged another Moroccan, Ayoub Sadni,, for the gold. Sadni finished in 47.16 to take the silver medal.
The T46/T47 events are for athletes with upper limb impairments. El Haddaoui has a wrist impairment which makes him eligible to compete.
El Haddaoui, a two-time NJCAA All-American in his freshman year last season at NMJC, also won a bronze in the T47 100-meter race in Paris.
