NFL Forecast: How much will QB injuries affect this week's games?
It's only Week 3, but five starting quarterbacks are either out for Sunday's play or questionable. Watch for late-week injury updates on San Francisco's Brock Purdy and Washington's Jayden Daniels.
Here's a look at the games:
THURSDAY
SUNDAY
MONDAY
Miami Dolphins (0-2) at Buffalo Bills (2-0), 6:15 p.m.
Bills - 11.5 (50 O/U)
Forecast: Bills 35, Dolphins 14
Buffalo, the heaviest Week 3 favorite, has had a league-high 52 more offensive snaps than its foes this season and will face a defense that hasn't been able to get off the field. Miami has yielded three scoring drives of 15-plus plays, most in the NFL.
Green Bay Packers (2-0) at Cleveland Browns (0-2), 11 a.m.
Packers -7.5 (41.5 O/U)
Forecast: Packers 26, Browns 17
Green Bay, the new favorite to win the NFC, might not be tested again until Week 10, at home against Philadelphia.
Indianapolis Colts (2-0) at Tennessee Titans (0-2), 11 a.m.
Colts -4 (43.5 O/U)
Forecast: Colts 23, Titans 21
Both teams have played Denver, with Indy generating 473 yards in a 29-28 victory last week. Earlier, Tennessee fell 20-12, totaling an NFL season-low 133 yards. Thus, the nod goes to veteran Colts QB Daniel Jones over rookie Cam Ward.
Cincinnati Bengals (2-0) at Minnesota Vikings (1-1), 11 a.m.
Vikings -3 (41.5 O/U)
Forecast: Bengals 27, Vikings 10
Minnesota will go with backup QB Carson Wentz in place of J.J. McCarthy (ankle). It will be the sixth team Wentz has started for the past five seasons. Cincinnati's star QB, Joe Burrow, also is out (turf toe) with Jake Browning taking over. In 2023, Browning filled in for Burrow, went 4-3 and was the league's seventh-rated QB.
Pittsburgh Steelers (1-1) at New England Patriots (1-1), 11 a.m.
Steelers -1.5 (44.5 O/U)
Forecast: Patriots 24, Steelers 17
New England rolled over Miami last week despite WR Kayshon Boutte being targeted only once despite having 100-plus yards in Week 1. Pittsburgh's QB Aaron Rodgers, meanwhile, had better have his head on a swivel against New England's pass rush.
Los Angeles Rams (2-0) at Philadelphia Eagles (2-0), 11 a.m.
Eagles -3 (44.5 O/U)
Forecast: Eagles 28, Rams 27
West Coast teams crossing three time zones to play a game back East have gone 82-49-7 ATS since 2018.
West Coast teams crossing three time zones to play a game back East have gone 82-49-7 ATS since 2018.
New York Jets (0-2) at Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2-0), 11 a.m.
Bucs -6.5 (43.5 O/U)
Forecast: Buccaneers 16, Jets 7
It would tempting to take the Jets and all those points, but not with QB Justin Fields out (concussion).
Las Vegas Raiders (1-1) at Washington Commanders (1-1), 11 a.m.
Commanders 3.5 (44 O/U)
Forecast: Commanders 27, Raiders 16
Washington QB Daniels is questionable (knee). But even if he sits, backup Marcus Mariota showed last year he can excel if needed. Vegas, meanwhile, is making a coast-to-coast journey on short rest after its MNF loss to the LA Chargers.
Houston Texans (0-2) at Jacksonville Jaguars (1-1), 11 a.m.
Jaguars 2 (44 O/U)
Forecast: Texans 28, Jaguars 17
Atlanta Falcons (1-1) at Carolina Panthers (0-2), 11 a.m.
Falcons 5.5 (43.5 (O/U)
Forecast: Falcons 23, Panthers 20
Denver Broncos (1-1) at Los Angeles Chargers (2-0), 2:05 p.m.
Chargers -3 (46 O/U)
Forecast: Chargers 27, Broncos 21
Denver QB Bo Nix doesn't measure up to the Chargers' Justin Herbert, the league's second-rated passer with five TDs and no INTs.
New Orleans Saints (0-2) at Seattle Seahawks (1-1), 2:05 p.m.
Seahawks -7.5 (41.5 O/U)
Forecast: Seahawks 27, Saints 14
Dallas Cowboys (1-1) at Chicago Bears (0-2), 2:25 p.m.
Cowboys 1 (50.5 O/U)
Forecast: Bears 35, Cowboys 31
Dallas just yielded 450 passing yards to NYG's Russell Wilson, his greatest production the past eight years. And he did it working behind an offensive line that didn't have its starting OLT, and the backup soon was benched.
Arizona Cardinals (2-0) at San Francisco 49ers (2-0), 2:25 p.m.
49ers -2.5 (45 O/U)
Forecast: 49ers 24, Cardinals 14
Kansas City Chiefs (0-2) at New York Giants (0-2), 6:20 p.m.
Chiefs -6 (45 O/U)
Forecast: Chiefs 27, Giants 10
While with Pittsburgh last season, Wilson had his worst game of the year when facing KC, getting sacked five times and throwing three INTs.
Detroit Lions (1-1) at Baltimore Ravens (1-1), 6:15 p.m.
Ravens -4.5 (52.5 O/U)
Forecast: Lions 30, Ravens 27
Detroit, coming off a 52-21 victory over Chicago last week, had three games last season in which it won by more than 30 points and in its next outing covered the spread each time.
Last week: 6-7 ATS/9-4 SU
Season total: 12-17 ATS/16-13 SU
