Desirae Spearman, one of the top two-way softball players in the nation with New Mexico State last season, is in the transfer portal.

Spearman, who helped lead the Aggies to a 27-27 record in her sophomore campaign, made the announcement on her social media accounts Tuesday.

Elite in the hitter's box and in the pitcher's circle, Spearman was recently named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association Central Region First Team, the only player from a non-power conference to earn that recognition. In March, Softball America tabbed Spearman, an El Paso native, as the third best two-way player, and 83rd-best player overall, in Division I.

As a freshman, she was named Conference USA Player of the Year and Freshman of the Year.

A first team CUSA player last season, Spearman was the only player in the league to lead her team in both batting average (.430) and earned-run average (3.54) in 2025. She led CUSA, or was tied for the lead, in home runs (20), walks (55), slugging percentage (.977), on-base percentage (.606) and OPS (1.583). The 55 walks ranked fourth-highest in the nation. As a pitcher, she also led the Aggies in opponent batting average (.221), strikeouts thrown (118) and complete games (eight).
