Unbeaten Albuquerque boxer Abraham Perez is due back in the ring April 4 at the Embassy Suites in a defense of his NABF flyweight title, promoter Aaron Perez, the fighter’s father, said on Monday.

The younger Perez (13-0, seven knockouts) is matched against the Philippines’ Esneth Domingo (22-4, 14 knockouts), his father said.

The Legacy Promotions card did not receive final approval from the New Mexico Athletic Commission at the NMAC’s monthly meeting on Tuesday, perhaps because of a change in venue. Aaron Perez had initially planned to stage the card at the Albuquerque Convention Center but has opted instead for the Embassy Suites.

Legacy has been the state’s most active boxing promotion since its formation more than a decade ago.

Aaron Perez said the April 4 card will feature Albuquerque fighters Josh Torres (28-7-2, 15 KOs) and Cristian Cabral (10-2-2), five KOs, both of whom won bouts on Legacy’s most recent card on Dec. 12 at the Kiva Auditorium.

In that night’s main event, Abraham Perez won the NABF title with a victory by fifth-round TKO over Mexico’s Adrian Ibarra (10-4, eight KOs).

Aaron Perez said he hopes to have seven or eight bouts on the April 4 card.

Domingo, Abraham Perez’s prospective opponent, has fought  primarily in the Philippines but also in Japan and South Africa during a decade-long professional career. The April card would be his first in the United States.

Two of his four losses have come in his most recent three bouts, though against opponents with solid records. He has won two regional flyweight titles, the WBO Global belt and the WBC Asian silver belt.

MMA: Empire Promotions, a company based in El Paso, is scheduled to stage a fourth event in Las Cruces at the Pan American Center on March 14. The event was approved by the New Mexico Athletic Commission on Tuesday.

Empire, headed by Cerenna Vasquez, staged three cards at the Pan Am in 2025, featuring fighters from the El Paso/Las Cruces area.
