Softball: Lobos ink five newcomers, 13 New Mexico Suncats sign with college programs

University of New Mexico head softball coach Nicole Orgeron and her staff signed five players to the 2026 class Wednesday featuring two pitchers, an infielder, catcher and outfielder.

Jocelynn Gonzalez (RHP) of Fresno, California, is a two-way player who played varsity softball all four years of high school, recording 112 strikeouts with a 1.23 ERA.

Leah Letuli (Inf) of San Diego, played both softball and volleyball and was a CIF Open Division Championship runner-up in 2025 in softball and won a CIF Division 2 Championship in volleyball in 2022.

Haley Mennenga (C) of Fort Worth, Texas, won district in 2025 and the Texas UIL Softball State Championship.

Aubrey Robledo (OF) of Midlothian, Texas, earned Second Team All-District and honorable mention during her high school career.

Ryoko Schroth (RHP) of San Diego, won the 2025 Division 2 CIF and state championship.

New Mexico Suncats announce 13 seniors signing

On Wednesday, the NM Suncats, a 16-team club softball organization, hosted a National Letter of Intent signing ceremony to honor 13 seniors who are signing with college programs.

“This milestone marks a record number of college commits for any NM club softball organization — a true testament to the talent and dedication of these athletes and the support of our community,” the NM Suncats said in a news release.

The players include:

Mariella “Cita” Ruiz (C/UTL) of St. Michael’s signed with Colorado.

Lainey Alcaraz (RHP) of La Cueva signed with the UT-El Paso.

Mya Baca (C/OF) of West Mesa signed with Midland College.

Audrey Gutierrez (P/CI) of Volcano Vista signed with Nelson University.

Zoë Mangrum (MI/OF) of St. Pius signed with Howard.

Hailey Baca (3B) of Rio Rancho signed with Trinidad State.

Alex Fox (OF/1B) of La Cueva signed with Trinidad State.

Natalie Madrid (UTL) of Los Lunas signed with St. Mary.

Abagail DeHerrera (MI) of Los Alamos signed with Highlands.

Kelsie DeGraaf (CF) of Los Lunas signed with ENMU.

Sophia Truijillo (1B/RF) of St. Pius signed with Luna JC.

Audrianna Jim (P/UTL) of Volcano Vista is undecided.

Sydney Koranyi (C/UTL) of ABQ Academy is undecided.
